We talked with Przemek Chojecki, CEO of Contentyze.

How would you describe Contentyze in a single tweet?

Contentyze is a content generation platform. We’re building a text editor powered by AI to make writing easy for anyone.

How did it all start and why?

I always loved reading and writing. On the other hand, my background is in pure mathematics, I’ve completed a PhD in Paris, and then I was a Research Fellow at the University of Oxford.

In 2016 I was starting to move from academia to business. I loved the intellectual freedom of academia, but I lack the impact on the world, especially that pure mathematics is pretty far from practical applications. I started with consulting, working on small external projects before making a full switch to business.

Three years went by and after various consulting projects and two failed startups, I was thinking about what to do next in 2019. That’s when I decided to merge my two passions – writing and automation – into one product. I’ve started playing around with various language algorithms to boost my own performance as a writer (I tend to write a lot, have a look at my Medium blog). Around January 2020 I decided to create a SaaS platform encompassing algorithms I’ve been using. That’s how Contentyze came to be. The first public version was released in March 2020.

The goal of creating Contentyze was always to make writing easy and smooth. First, for myself, and now for all the other people. Currently, we’re on a pretty good track to make a truly next-generation text editor. The key will be to merge amazing UX/UI with powerful AI algorithms.

What have you achieved so far?

Since the launch of the second version of Contentyze in June 2020, we’ve got on average a 10% weekly growth in the number of registered users! We went from 100 in June 2020 to 2200 in November 2020. Crazy!

The growth was so fast and unexpected that I was worried that everything would crash, but fortunately we managed to make the platform stable.

It’s still early in the process, so the achievement I’m the most proud of is launching the platform and making it useful to others. Most of our users come from marketing and SEO background, and they have a different point of view as to what they need, than I have anticipated in the beginning. This is also exciting, because each day is an opportunity to learn and expand.

How will you use your recent funding round?

We’ve just raised a pre-seed round from Credo Ventures, and we plan to use it to build a strong data science and software engineering team. Our main focus is on the product as we want to make it as simple to use as possible.

Having said that, if you’re a dev ops, a data scientist or a React developer and you like challenges, write to us! We’re hiring.

What do you plan to achieve in the next 2-3 years?

We want to become a truly next-generation text editor: easy to use, intelligent, fast. Our main goal is to become a go-to-platform for writing blog posts, essays, summarising reports and much more. Think an AI-writing assistant with human-level skills. Drafting a new text will take you ten times less than before, you’d get live suggestions on what you can write and moreover our AI will be able to write certain (or all!) paragraphs for you.

The main challenge will be to blend Artificial Intelligence with an intuitive UX. We’re pretty confident we can deliver world-class piece of technology.

Our main focus now is marketing and SEO use cases, but once established we will move to adjacent markets, eventually becoming an editor of choice for anyone.
