m.io ceo tom hadfield teams slack webex integration

Mio has raised $12M in total. We talked with Tom Hadfield, its founder and CEO.

PetaCrunch: How would you describe Mio in a single tweet?

Tom Hadfield: Mio powers seamless communication between Slack, Microsoft Teams & Webex Teams. Mio’s interoperability solution solves a common problem that exists within many large companies today: too many siloed messaging apps.

PC: How did it all start and why?

TH: When Mio first incorporated, the founding team was using six different messaging apps to communicate with each other. In response to Slack’s rapid growth, other vendors like Microsoft and Cisco were launching their own workplace messaging apps, which was further contributing to fragmentation in the team collaboration space. Mio was created so everyone can use their preferred method of communication to keep their teams in sync.

PC: What have you achieved so far?

TH: Mio delivers millions of messages each month for some of the world’s largest companies. A global sports apparel brand is using Mio to enable thousands of employees using Slack to communicate with colleagues who are using Microsoft Teams, for example. Mio’s enterprise offering supports cross-platform direct messaging, channel synchronization, file uploads and editing/deleting messages.

PC: What do you plan to achieve in the next 2-3 years?

TH: Our vision for Mio is to make all voice, video and messaging apps fully interoperable. We’re on a mission to enable employees to communicate in real-time with their colleagues, regardless of which apps they are using.
