We talked with Arun Seelam, CEO of Boson Motors.
How would you describe Boson Motors in a single tweet?
Boson is accelerating electrification of commercial vehicle fleets. We are the only company in the world that empowers users to deploy custom android applications to control the vehicle. ex: Speed Limits, Load Limits, RashDriving Control, PilotAssist etc and many more.
How did it all start and why?
For the first time ever in our history world we have small and powerful computers and the world is transitioning to EV. We see this huge opportunity to build programmable vehicles with rich functionality and help businesses. Suri, Cofounder of Boson and I started working on this while still at Google. With zero marketing we have booked orders for 50 vehicles through word of mouth.
What have you achieved so far?
We have launched our first field test vehicle last December with our first customer. We are launching our production vehicle this December in India and in February in California. Our current production capacity is 5 vehicles per month, we are scaling it to 20 per month over the next few months. Our first big customer Zoho Corporation is set to receive their first batch of vehicles for Christmas 2019.
What do you plan to achieve in the next 2-3 years?
We intent to scale the production and also update software features over next year. We look forward perfecting and reaching high volume production in next couple of years.
