PetaCrunch: How would you describe Cheeky Chompers in a single tweet?

Julie Wilson: Award-winning nursery brand delivering innovative products to help make parents lives easier.

PC: How did it all start and why?

JW: Amy and I were lucky to meet through having children however we never imagined we’d set up a business together soon after! The business came out of our experiences when our babies were teething and we were constantly picking up and sterilising dropped teethers – ‘Why doesn’t someone invent a teether that stays attached to the baby’ we thought…

We launched the World’s first chewy dribble bib the Neckerchew in 2013 and haven’t looked back! 

PC: What have you achieved so far?

JW: We’ve had an amazing journey over the past 6 years and have worked really hard to take an idea and turn it into a global brand, with a 5* reputation and a stream of business and product awards.  We now have 9 innovative and multi-use baby products created with an intuitive twist to help make parents lives easier.  We have well established domestic and international routes to market with 1,500 retailers in 49 countries including John Lewis, Jojo Maman Bébé  & The White Company.

PC: How will you use your recent funding round?

JW: We aim to capitalise on the $7B Global market for baby soothers and teethers by scaling the business significantly. We will be focusing on three key areas – new product innovation, leveraging our direct to consumer offering and sales and a focus on brand awareness in our largest markets of UK, USA and China.

PC: What do you plan to achieve in the next 2-3 years?

JW: Significant growth in high margin direct to consumer revenue, a growing product range to meet the age and stage of baby and fuel our strong worldwide distribution network with new products and increased international brand awareness.
