PadSplit has raised $4.6M in total. We talk with Atticus LeBlanc, its CEO.

PetaCrunch: How would you describe PadSplit in a single tweet?

Atticus LeBlanc: PadSplit is a marketplace that makes affordable housing possible by also making it profitable.  We leverage this housing as a vehicle for financial independence for our members.

PC: How did it all start and why?

ALB: I’d been in the affordable housing space for a number of years, and I saw the need for better options that didn’t rely on subsidies to serve the millions of people that couldn’t afford to live where they worked. I also wanted to create a force for good that could outlive me, and I knew the housing space a lot better than most.

PC: What have you achieved so far?

ALB: In the last 12 months we’ve created 350 housing units with no public subsidy. Our product is designed to function across multiple sectors in the shared housing space and includes due dates matches to pay periods, resident ratings, and utility monitoring. Our team is currently at 35.

PC: How will you use your recent funding round?

ALB: Hiring, marketing, growth

PC: What do you plan to achieve in the next 2-3 years?

ALB: Change the world one room at a time.
